About Us

The Brisch Center for Historical Performance -and the Historical Performance Practice Student Activity Group- has been an officially acknowledged entity under the administration of the School of Music since 2012. The School currently offers and continues to expand coursework in historical performance at the undergraduate and graduate level. A minor and a Graduate Certificate in Historical Performance has been developed. The Brisch Center offers the potential to identify a distinctive area of music instruction that is lacking in Oklahoma. It has become a prestigious activity that attracts notice in the local and broader community translating into enhanced recruitment and new opportunities for fund-raising and development. The Historical Performance Practice Student Activity Group has developed an annual festival, a master class and guest artist and alumni artist series, and attracted multiple donations for the purchase of historical instruments for students to perform on.
