Diversity Round Table Council Statement on EO 2023-31
As the President of the Diversity Round Table Council at the University of Central Oklahoma, it concerns me to have our state governor issue an executive order targeting diversity on campus like that of my council and those served under it.
While we are aware of the executive order, we as a council stand strong in the fact that we are here to serve all students and will continue to do the work that we do. Despite the order being issued before colleges and institutions released for winter break, we will not let that deter us in our efforts to work to address the order. We highly encourage everyone to express their concerns as students of UCO to the leadership of our campus and to your representatives. To our allies and partners across campus, the community, other institutions, and the wider state of Oklahoma, we appreciate your thoughts and concerns for us. We urge you to take the same action and continue to work and serve students to the best of your abilities. Stand firm and do not falter at this order.
As a student leader, not only am I an advocate for those I represent, but also a resource. If any UCO students have concerns or wish to seek me out, I encourage you to do so. I would also encourage anyone to utilize the resources provided to campus by the Inclusive Community office.
Sincerely,
The Diversity Round Table Council -
