The Silk Road Connection event celebrates the 40-year sister-state relationship between Oklahoma and Gansu, China, bringing together dignitaries and cultural representatives to strengthen ties through art and heritage. Hosted at UCO, the event features a photo opportunity on May 4 and a performance on May 5, showcasing traditional Chinese music, dance, and song, including Dunhuang-style performances, Erhu and Pipa music, and Yugur nationality folk traditions. Additionally, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition will display traditional crafts such as paper-cutting, gourd carving, and shadow plays. This collaboration, supported by UCO’s College of Fine Arts and Design and musician Kyle Dillingham, offers a meaningful cultural exchange between Oklahoma and Gansu.
